First win for Romania

Romania managed to beat Portugal in a game riddled with mistakes from both sides. Portugal started brightly and were rewarded for their willingness to run the ball when they scored the only try of the first half. After half time the bigger Romanian forwards got stuck in and gained plenty of possession and territory for their team. Still Portugal defended bravely but in the end it was just to much. Two tries by Romania, both scored by the forwards after sustained pressure, proved to be enough for them to register their first victory at World Cup 2007. Although Portugal lost all four their games, the amateur players from this country made a lot of friends with their never say die attitude and can go away from the competition with their pride intact. Final score: Romania 14 Portugal 10
