Lions come out on top in cat fight

The Lions won their first Super14 match of the 2008 season by beating the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Both teams played some realy good rugby at stages and were pretty keen to play open, running rugby. The Cheetahs scored three tries to two by the Lions, but a moment of stupidity by Cheetah scrumhalf, Falie Oelschig, cost his side the game. The referee penalised Oelschig for throwing an opponent with the ball, right in front of the Cheetah posts with only minutes remaining. The Lions slotted the penalty and hung on to their one point lead to claim the victory. Final score: Lions 23 Cheetahs 22
