The Western Force launched one of the greatest comebacks of all time in the come from behind victory over the Brumbies. The Brumbies dominated the early exchanges, scoring 4 simple tries and racing out to a 22-0 lead, which could have been more had Stirling Mortlock kicked all the conversions. It looked like a rout was on hand. The Force scored a try just before half time and this proved to be the catalyst for a fantastic second half display. The Force scored another 3 tries in the second half, with Matt Giteau adding the conversions and a penalty for the Force to take a 29-22 lead.
